August = Bizzaaay Time

Not to be confused with Business Time.

First, not gonna let my self-serving information totally bump the previous blog post. Short version: wanna help a little girl to raise money for cancer research? Because that’s a cool thing to do.

Okay, enough with saving the world, let’s talk about distracting you from its impending doom.

The first issue of The Avengers and the Infinity Gauntlet hits comic shops all over the world Wednesday, August 18th! This is the first full issue of my first mini-series for the good folks at Marvel and I hope you’ll be on board to check it out. Why not take a gander of the first five pages while you’re sittin’ there gawkin’ at the screen.

The week after that, August 25th, Volume 4: Atomic Robo and Other Strangeness, the properly titled trade paperback collecting Atomic Robo and the Revenge of the Vampire Dimension #1 – 4 plus a buncha extras and crap rolls out for all you godless trade waiters — may maggots come pouring out your blackened hearts*!

*Naw, not really. I too am a vile trade waiter. Tell no one.

Cancer lol

Okay, so this is rad. One of our forum members has a sister. Actually, probably more than one of them has a sister. Or is one personally.

But anyway. This specific sister of a forum-er is a pretty cool kid. To wit:

My name is Hope Robins. I am almost 13 years old. This will be the third time I have cut my hair for Cancer. I also make sure that the hair is donated to make wigs for kids who have lost their hair because they have cancer. I cut my hair the first time when I was 8 and I raised $1,100.00 in pledges, the second time I raised $2,700.00 and this year my goal is $5000.00. I would be honoured if you would help me. This year I am proudly supporting The Terry Fox Foundation in its ongoing work to fund innovative and progressive cancer research programs. I very much hope you will consider making a donation in support of my effort, confident in the knowledge that your kindness will impact the lives of so many people living with cancer.

If that sounds like something you’d be “into,” then clickaclick right here. Donations are welcome, but so are kind words!

Can’t believe this needs to be said.

(I am joking)

And do you know the best part?

The best part is that all the copy and pasted Cap pictures are already owned by Marvel and going into Marvel products they also own. The only hang up is the backgrounds are from Atomic Robo. Wait. Gimme a second.

Brian Clevinger, do you give you, Brian Clevinger, permission to use your own IP?

Yup!

Score!

And they said I turned my back on my roots.

All right, so, things are a little hectic around here. I’m juggling something between five and a million writing gigs.

One of them is Captain America: The Fighting Avenger and in some ways it’s the most daunting. There’s just so much history and material to draw from. And everyone wants to see their favorite early Cap moments. Or at least have them alluded to. But there’s only so many pages in an issue, and who knows how many of those we’ll get to do and — ARGH — it’s just a ton of pressure.

Now, here’s the thing. In this industry, artists get paid a ton more than writers. Like several tons more. It’s crazy. I mean, okay, they earn it. The poor bastards can only draw so many pages in a day, generally one, while jackasses like me can just write script after script consisting of giant splash pages that take all of ten seconds to figure out and ten hours for some other idiot to draw. But, all the same, fuck that noise, GIMME DAT ARTIST MONEY!

Well, luckily, I’m a genius so I figured out how to get in on that action by using my years of experience as a sprite comic artiste! I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but check out this exclusive preview of Captain America: The Fighting Avenger #1.

Pretty amazing, right?

The best part is I can do like three or four of these pages every day. I’m callin’ up Quesada in the morning with this. Gonna start doing the art on New Avengers or an X-Men or something.
